The Broken Heart - #2

Off we went, hunting down the scene of the murder. As we sped past road after road, my heart was thumping. I knew that this case was going to be big. I had always hoped that I would be a detective, and now I was on a murder case!

We finally arrived at the scene of the crime. I got out of my car, and looked around. The sky was bright blue, filled with bright, fluffy clouds. The air filled with laughter and happiness. The breeze softly brushing past, cooling down the area. As I looked at the building in front of me, it was a slightly different story. Sirens buzzing on and on, with the distinctive flashing of blue lights. There was the dreaded yellow tape, warning passers-by that there was evil afoot.

“341 West Avenue. You sure this is it?” Wells questioned, sarcastically.

It was unquestionable, this was the crime scene.

We headed through the door to the quaint house. The house looked relatively ordinary from the outside. An outstretched luscious lawn paved the area in front of the house. A sparkling white covered the walls of the building. The smooth glossy windows shone as if brand new.

I began to walk through the house, bracing myself for the worst. This was only my third case, and I was still uneasy about the sight of death.

I stepped through the living room, filled with memories. Pictures hung off of every inch of space, showing what once was. Cream seats were dotted around the room, allowing the viewing of the small grey television in the corner of the room. I looked around the room, and began to take everything in. This man was so ordinary, and he now had lost his life.

Then came the final scene. The victim spread across the floor, lifeless. I looked into his eyes, and thought about the life he must have once led. I began to drift into the thoughts of his final days…

“Hudson! We found this by the body” Detective Johnson, the crime scene specialist, reported.

He handed a small blue slip of paper to me. It had a phone number on it. Strange, I thought, that a killer would leave this.

“Have we called it yet?” I inquired

“Not yet, was waiting for you, detective” Johnson replied

YOU DECIDE:
