Vegas born and Vegas raised,
you were chameleon color-phased.
Age adopted Vegas styles
as well as many fading smiles.
Yellow sunshine baby boy,
you graced your parents with your joy.
But time would fade their love for you,
as it did their marriage too.
Growing like a harvest green:
mind and body, but still unseen.
Kids in school left you alone.
Wilted, your light no longer shone.
Pimple-prone and towering tall,
the years you hated most of all.
Lost and confused about your ways,
bullies fed off your darker days.
Amidst the violet, black and blue,
a safety line was thrown to you.
She brought your golden smile back,
your withered heart was under attack.
Newfound feelings, orange and vast;
a summer sunset not meant to last.
For once, you bloomed a pretty pink.
Colorblind, though, she made no link.
Blooming, bright; so full of cheer,
Confident You showed love, not fear.
Uneasy near you she only grew.
The reason why, you never knew.
A fallout with Friend the night before,
but still she ran to your door
at 2 a.m. the very next day,
awoken by sirens and neighborsβ dismay.
She met your father after her race,
the last thing you saw was the the look on her face
with your empty, grey eyes, so full of pain,
hers full of horror and no need to explain.
All she could do was fall apart
as the various colors gushed from your art.
To yourself, all you were worth
was understood then when you left the Earth.
