I read somewhere, some time ago "the past's a foreign land"
But I was young and innocent,
Just didn't understand.
And now that I'm approaching
The autumn of my years
Those cryptic words come back to me,
This time they're crystal clear.
It's all about how peoples' views and attitudes have changed.
How things that were acceptable must now be rearranged.
But political correctness
can be a bloody fool
We can't say "Baa baa black sheep"
Or wear a cross to school.
Don't get me wrong, I know that many things are good today
Technology and science
GPS and DNA
But sometimes I just wish for that less complicated time
When common sense ruled the roost
Is that so much a crime?
