With Death Comes Life

I was having a very pleasant time,
When something strange came from the sky,
Which was ,in fact, a butterfly,

It came with the wind blowing left and right,
It really was quite a beautiful sight,
With its flapping wings colourful and bright,

But then I suddenly filled with dread,
As on my lap the insect rested its head,
Because the butterfly was very dead,

I searched the area to find out how,
But then I heard a peculiar sound,
And to find its source I turned around,

On the bannister was a little cucoon,
That little butterfly would be out soon,
Ready to live amongst the flowers that now bloom,

And although today there has been strife,
There has also been new life,
Because many butterflies do survive.
