Ok... I'm feeling very blank and dissapointed. I'm also feeling slightly uptight. There's been an uprising against using others work. I'm worried that you'll get out of shape with me.
I myself will openly admit that my poems have inspirations and similar references from songs. I have NEVER copied and pasted anything.

Am I in the wrong to find a line in a song inspirational and make it my own?
Does it make me a cheat?
Do you still respect me?
I feel i've not done wrong. I've always worked hard for what I write...
But I just want to be honest instead of you guys thinking i'm taking others work and plagetising it.

In the past somone asked me if I know a song and I've openly admited it was my inspiration to my poem. No more was said. I really don't want to be witch hunted for this. So if i've done wrong please tell me. I'd rather be told straight like i'm telling you now.

After hearing events of others experiences I just want to be clear... I love you guys. I really don't feel I have ever given you guys any reason to doubt my work. You may ask is this a guilty conscience?... No I safely say it's not. Some of you may have even picked up on bits in my poems. I just hope you understand where i'm coming from...

My skin might be too thick, but I wouldn't worry about it and doubt if anyone thinks that anyway. An idea is something to run with no matter where it sprung πŸ‘

@Burrfoot Thanks. I just want my friends to know what inspires me. Im quite happy to say that any random poem could relate to some random song. Ive never tried to hide it... x

Songs have some great ideas which can be interpreted and twisted into stories of our own. Inspiration is inspiration, regardless of where it comes from. Copy + pasting is the crime, not the interpretation part writers like to do! I'm on yours for this one @iPuss 🌷

I think it's ok, there is a difference between getting inspiration from something and completely copying it and passing it as your own, your all good hun just keep being you xxx

@IndiaSparrow Thank you darlin.. x

@iPuss @Stablish I agree with Stablish

Don't worry we all use the same colors it's how u paint the picture that matters

@jezzer Can you please post this as a post on opuss with author if poss i will repost and like promis! X

@jezzer well said Jezzer!!

I'm sorry what do u want me to do

@IndiaSparrow @Stablish @jezzer completely agree πŸ‘

@jezzer get em up to Manchester and have em in the show!!

@iPuss nothing is original anymore, but people write it in different forms and ways which make it unique, that the difference between you and copy and pasters :)

I completely understand! I do the same thing. You here that song it, and it's words are just exactly what you feel.

@iPuss have I missed something ??

Get wat up to Manchester wat show ?

Not all of us can wright wat we want or feel wat we want plz read wat people put on here my be it's all thay have to prove there real

@Stablish @IndiaSparrow @smellyfingers I concur. There is no comparison between taking a line/lyric & making it your own, & then taking an ENTIRE piece of work inc subject matter etc, altering a few bits, & then passing it off as your own. The latter is what people object to-especially if it keeps happeningπŸ˜” I'm sure you're all good @iPuss πŸ˜‰

@Fly10 Thank you babe x

I understand. My inspiration ones from various things X3

Why would this be bad? It's definitely not plagiarising. Taking inspiration from songs, using one or two lines etc is perfectly fine in my book. One of my poems is also inspired by a song, but I made it my own. Taking an entire piece of working and pasting it is something else entirely if you don't credit the source.

My feeling is its perfectly fine to take a line from someone else and use it as a springboard for your inspiration as long as you give credit to the original author for that line? I guess I'm wondering why you wouldn't want to do that. If an artist is inspiring to you, give them their due for their creative endeavor. I personally would feel like I was stealing if I used another poets line and passed it off as my own. That literally is the definition of plagiarism. Ask yourself, how would you feel if someone took one of your lines and proceeded to accept accolades for it? I respect your honesty and forthright manner of seeking others opinions. Good for you!πŸ‘

@ckahn Ive never used identicle lines. Ive made them my own 100%

@iPuss what do you mean by that? How do you go about making another authors line yours 100%?

Change words, sometimes the meanings

@ckahn For example a song said he lost two quarters and half a heart. My poem was called two and a half hearts down. Explaining that everytime i love somone and they hurt me it costs me a heart

@ckahn I think his song was about self pitty that he couldnt have the girl he wanted.

@iPuss did someone have a problem with that? I don't see an issue there

It's not wrong at all - Songs inspired me to write some of my short stories, so keep writing 😊

If I'm the reference, then I assure you my intentions weren't against you in any way. It simply piqued my interest, because I'd already found another Script fan not long ago, lol. Curiosity rather than prosecution.

@iPuss I think your fine with everything you have posted, but personally, I would like to know if a certain work gave you inspiration for a piece, because it might give me inspiration also. Plus, if I was an artist that inspired someone else's creativity, I'd be proud and grateful to know, so please write as you have, but an appropriate nod to an inspiration might be nice.

Hun I think it's as simple as just putting inspired by ..........etc, if it's from somewhere else, that's all x

Ok!! Think of it like this; anything you wrote or think off has already been written about in a number of ways and styles! Taking a line or an idea and reworking it is cool IMO if you make it into your own work!! Taking a few lines intact and adding your own words is copying/plagiarism! A little line to say where the lines come from is required. Some people are taking whole sections of others poems, splitting it up with their own words to extend the original poem and taking credit with a nod to original author, that's not right and it's happened on more than 1 occasion!!! I wrote a poem ages ago called "worried man" with a line "worried man with a worried mind" hat line comes from a Bob Dylan song, my poem has nothing to do with the song, still I have credit to Dylan as that 1 line inspired the whole poem. πŸ‘

*taking credit without a nod

Don't worry about it sweetheart, everyone gets inspiration songs etc. I understand where you're coming from but no crime has been committed and noone will think any less of you πŸ˜ŠπŸ’— xxx

@PoppyA Thanks hun :3

@sjw thanks but i truly think any random poem could be related to any song. Its not like the english language was just made by me :P

@VikingHorn The only stuff I losten to is Hollywood undead, eminem, enomine, the script , skillet and stuff

@Earthbound Yes you were the reference! And I know you meant nothing by it. It's all cool :3 x

@iPuss your totally right, I don't think it's about where the inspiration comes from hun, it's just good to put inspired by...and that way no one can have ago at anyone πŸ’ž

Btw I haven't found anything wrong in your posts☺

Fuck hatersπŸ’—πŸ’—

@iPuss Could you go read my things? Comment it or whatevs?πŸ’“

@iPuss That's cool, you might steer me to something I wouldn't otherwise hear.

iPuss you haven't done anything wrong! Some of my best book ideas were almost totally inspired by songs! That's what makes a great writer, being able to be I spired by others work.

I once inscribed a book to someone I had to say goodbye to with a poem. I started it off with the line: I want to feel my arms around you like the sea around the shore. This line was from an old Cat Stevens song but the rest of the poem was mine. I didn't credit the line and felt so wrong and fake when I gave the book; because I plagiarized. It haunted me so much I shared where that line came from days later.

I know how you feel chick sometimes that happens to me and folks point it out. It makes you feel uncomfortable like at any moment they'll turn on you, but it's inspiration and as its already been said no work is ever one hundred per cent original. That's practically impossible these days☺
