[inspired by @HeatherAnne's "Saving Earth"]
One day my eyes will turn to glass,
And all that has been will come to pass,
My oceans will freeze over or dry,
Either way, all will die,
Land where forests once grew.
Now turned over for making beef stew,
The land where wolves ran,
Sucked dry of oils carted off in a van.
One day my chest will no longer rise,
Perhaps because of all the holes in my skies,
My deep internal currents will slow,
And man will forget the power of snow,
Once where noise and music filled the air,
All will lie quiet, unmoving and bare.
Unfortunately that is just the way,
That nothing will forever stay,
Perhaps we humans will pay our price,
(probably when we run out of rice?)
There is so much we have already lost,
Do we really know how much that cost?
5 billion years left on the solar clock,
Some people talk while others just block,
I just do my bit and hope,
For the future of our globe.
