Words can make you feel on top of the world
Or throw you into the depths of the ocean
Make your voice loud enough to be heard
Or heal your wounds life a magic potion.
Words from lovers go to our hearts as,
they gently warm and soothe us.
From hater's they can mess with our head,
as they seek to torment and destroy us.
Words from the "powers that be" are there
to control and restrain us, not wanting us
to be free. They are a smoke screen and
nothing more than a mindless mockery.
Words can pack a punch, hurt us so much
more than anything that's physical.
They can lift us from the darkness of
despair, as towards the bright lights they pull.
The words that give me the most satisfaction,
aren't the loudest, kindest or the sweetest.
But the ones that are sincere, heartfelt and
not least backed up by selfless action.
