I might get slaughtered for this but I think anyone and I mean anyone who self harms is pathetic. Such a stupid thing to do often for attention. Maybe I don't understand but you get people on here glorifying it like its some badge of honor or something. I think these people that do it for whatever reason should grow up. Great poem mate 🐮

@glen I know what you mean mate, I do think some do it as it releases some kind of chemicals in their brains that they can't produce any other way. I'm no expert on the subject but I do think there's more to it than doing it just for attention seeking altho I'm sure some do it for that reason but not all. I'm pretty sure stress, adrenaline, anxiety and that they don't know to control certain emotions/feelings and its a kind of "release" maybe??

@glen @smellyfingers did u know that tattoo addiction and piercing is also a form of self harm the satisfaction from tat pain is addictive

@glen lol but do you think those that cut have much confidence, self respect ect to care about the aftermath of cutting (scars ect), I'm pretty sure it's a medical condition and is pretty involved as to the reasons why it happens. If someone harms themselves then surely they are desperate and it's not as simple as saying they attention seeking?

@tetti2 yes I did babe. My uncle has a tattoo shop (lol freebies) it's the chemicals in the brain, a natural kind of high, fear, adrenaline, endorphins and all that stuff

@glen madness probably the correct word with it being a mental illness. I think people that admit to doing it on here are attention seeking but privately shows a big old problem.

@glen it is madness mate, literally. It's a psychological condition which I guess can be addictive. Think of it like a heroin addict, I know it wrong as do you and probably they too, but addiction can be a bastard to break the cycle, ppl start/do it for different reasons. Btw I don't nor never have self harmed, just playing the devils advocate lol

@tetti2 totally agree. Why would anyone openly admit to self harming ill never know, unless they are seeking help/treatment for it and need to express themselves by being honest and open? It's a bit too personal tho and in some ways still a taboo. Funny tho that some religions self harm to appease their gods, weird aye? Lol

Disappointing that there are some narrow minded people out there that condemn mental illness as attention seeking!? Self harm is often done to remind you that no matter what pits of despair you have reached you can still get a stimulus - yes I said a stimulus! Most self harmers do everything they can to hide their scars- so much for attention seeking? Although it is true there are self harmers who wear their scars as a badge if honour. Don't be so quick to condemn guys. @smellyfingers well done for highlighting a very real issue especially among young vulnerable kids.

@merlin1038 no condemning here fella I'm well aware of mental illness (I'm not self harmer myself fortunately) but have known people in the past that are constantly hiding their scars. I don't understand why some announce it upon first meeting I think that's where the attention thing could come across? Unless like was mentioned earlier it could be a therapy thing could be a reason.
