That moment
When in a group,
You go to speak next?
But someone unknowing
Has already taken
Half of your words.
It's half life.
When you're half the friend
Someone wants, the third
In 'three's a crowd'
And maybe you try too hard
Or laugh too loud
That's half life.
When tantrums are tolerated
But yours are berated.
When 'loud' makes them wacky
But with you it's tacky.
When neither notoriety
Or heartfelt piety
Make you solid in reality
That's half life.
Maybe it's all perception
And your shape isn't clear
Maybe you're blurred or
Displaced by fear
Of living
Perhaps you're so normal
That you might disappear
It's your half life.
But you know, half life is my life,
And it's better than no life.
