Another Earth

What if there was another us.
Another version below or above?
Would we look at ourselves and be proud of our lives,
Or would we see all the hurt and mistakes not so kind?

Would we give ourselves that other chance,
The one to make do and mend?
Or would we simply say it's our own fate,
It's your time it's not the end.

Would you look at yourself and feel the same,
As though you'd just looked in a mirror?
Or would you pat yourself on the back stand up tall
And accept the faults you delivered.

Would this be a better version of you,
The one you want everyone to see?
Or would you look and tell yourself,
'Well, that's how I'll always be'

Would you look at your past and lessons learnt
And fight through the heartache, the feeling of un-worth?
The pain and the worries and the feelings left unheard,
Whilst the screaming in your head is saying
'Stop being so scared'

Would you fight for yourself and your own self worth,
Take your advice and listen to your words.
Guide yourself through paths you might face
And let the other 'you' know how this life can be
your saving grace.
