I didn't know there was an optimal temperature. Do they operate like hang-gliders?. Or is it due to a build up of ice on their wings. That happens often to the aircraft at Heathrow, usually in the months from January to March. Although after removing the ice they can take off without fear of incident. Is it something they maybe should consider, that way they can fly 365 days of the year. What happens when there is fog?. Do they fly then or wait for it to clear?.
