Dog (or cat) tired...

I could sleep right now, this very minute
Conjure a dream and then climb in it
Brain akimbo, heavy old lids
Attempts at alertness are hitting the skids
The reason is simple, for all last night
Tossing and turning as if having a fight
Invading my side and kicking my leg
And stealing the quilt, have mercy, I beg
And then there's the cat, luxuriating
These sleepless nights are so irritating
You two are alright, to sleep you are falling
If it happens tonight the sofa's calling
I'll wake up soon, shake the funk away
Not long 'til the end of the working day
Get me some caffeine, some tea, double quick
Either that or pass me a couple of matchsticks...

@crowncottage as a regular sufferer from insomnia I know that sometimes you can be pleading for sleep and you just can't get any 😖@leelee101 hope you have a better night tonight 😚
