A Widow's Peak

Improv Challenge #sixwords set by @naaviie

She knew her fragile bones,
Of how they've grown diseased
She looked into the MIRROR,
Hoping for a fragment,
A form of some RELEASE.

Rested upon the widow's chest
Was her husband's enveloped LETTER.
She had spent ten years waiting, depressed
Recalling FRICTION to all that didn't matter.

It was but now that 'courage',
Had climbed up the widow's peak
As she tore open the letter,
Her tears began to leak.

In it, it said,

"You are my DRIFTWOOD
Carefree but strong.
My missing JIGSAW piece
To this life of song.
You will always be the love of my life,
My sweet, loving wife."

We miss your face, We miss your smile. And we know we won't meet, For quite a while. You left your memories, In the past. And we'll make sure, That they are sure to last.

Day and Night

The night draws in around me. Like black velvet wrapped across us. Warming my arms like a blanket. Giving me refuge from the endless pain. Calling my name in the nighttime.

Goodbyes

Tears cascade down your cheeks. As you say your final farewells. Embrace so tightly. Longing of this sadness no one tells. Inside your broken. Inside your lost. Empty and helpless.

Do Not Leave.

My heart is finely splintered, I'm breathing shallow breaths, Every step you take from me, I die a thousand deaths.

Why?

"Look at me". His voice was low. The words came out deliberate and slow. "I don't want to". But she knew that wasn't true. She wanted to stare into his eyes and stay there forever. His hand came out.
