There's a soundtrack to my life
That shifts across the ages
Symphonies and rhapsodies
To record all of the stages
The simple joys of childhood
Before I knew how much was wrong
The dark years left unspoken
Can be found all told in song
The elation of my first love
When breathless tempo quickly rose
Warm summer nights, young limbs entwined
Reflected clear in rhythmic prose
Crazy nights with crazy friends
This playlist tells it all
Some tunes were written to make amends-
Others to mark my fall.....
Heartbreak? Too many to mention-
Some I took and some I gave....
An interlude of grief
Expressed within a stave
My Desert Island Disc, however
Is always saved for you
The music that taught me when love dies-
It's still possible to pull through
So even now that you are gone
And the depth of loss has maimed me
The band will still play on
And I know this is what will save me
A melancholy tune
Written to soothe my wretched heart
Will fade away too soon-
When I make a fresh new start
Through the soundtrack of this lifetime
Please know, that though we walk apart
No matter what the music
You are always in my heart.
