It just annoys me when genuinely great, original work gets 5-10 likes and unoriginal comments get 70+ likes. I'd leave Opuss if it turns into a popularity contest

@Irrational_Kimmi I know which ones you are looking at, and out of curiosity, if you take a look at their profiles, they managed 150 or so followers in 3 oppuses - looks like a software hack to me, or maybe they are impossibly epic quotes ;-) not that I care about stats, but it skews the whole thing don't it? And detracts from great work going on (some stunners today!)

Or maybe they are just American (ooh, now I will have no likes at all - he he)

@jackalice I'm pretty sure a few newbies have 'imported' followers from Instagram/Tumblr etc, that's the only way you'd get THAT many followers in a day

I'm always a little disappointed when something I've written doesn't do well, then I look at some of the top entries and think it really says something about folks. I reckon there are a handful of people that when I get a 'like' from, it really makes my day, so actually, 10-15 likes from these peeps is worth so much more than a whole raft of people clicking. I prefer to think of us as a sort of 'Opuss Resistance', keeping the good stuff going in the face if mindless adversity, hehehe xx @leelee101 @sjw @minxyMolly @jackalice

This issue just irks me - Opuss is supposed to celebrate creativity and innovation - not who can get the most buddies! Yes, we all like getting 'likes' and reposts, but because it means people are actually reading our work, not so I can feel all 'popular'. 😁 No more ranting now I promise 😊

I have no likes on one of my pieces I spent ages on, then I look on a two line comment written by someone who is bored saying something totally irrelevant and dull. It just makes me cross. @Irrational_Kimmi well done great piece!!! This should get a lot of likes

Yes I know who your talking about:( All these accounts on Instagram who have like 50k+ all got an opuss and just told their followers to follow them. And they get comments on their unoriginal posts saying "OMG YOU'RE AN INSPIRATION!" But ya. It's for attention.

153 rhymed with 'me' actually. And it's not that some if your followers are from Instagram. It's that you used your popularity on Instagram to get your mediocre post to number one. Basically, you cheated. It's sad. And it ruins a community like this where most members value well-crafted written pieces and don't give out 'likes for likes' etc based on cliques. So whatever, I'm not on my high horse, I just feel strongly about this. I don't have a problem with you, just what you did. I like you other, original post.
