Born without a clue
No worries about what to do
Barely talkin but howling all night
As a baby should, in the start of its life

Toddling down the hallway, at age 2
Your learning all that you can do
You're playing outside; finding new friends
It's only at bedtime when the fun ends

5 years old, you're a big kid now
When nobody can knock you down
But everything hurts your heart
Too bad it's just the start

You're a brat but cool at age 7
You're goin' to church and learnin' about heaven
Friends aplenty, though school is hard
Until Valentine's day hen you get special cards

You're at age 10 and yearning to learn
Stickers are a breeze to earn
You wanna be famous but can't just yet
So you take whatever you can get

Startin' the teens, your stubbornness loud
Doing what you want, won't let parents be proud
Finding yourself and others like you
Have your first boyfriend, maybe a kiss or two

You're 15 now, wanna drive a car
Wanna be with the cool kids and go real far
Scared to be yourself but don't tolerate rules
You want tattoos and a face full of jewels

Sweet 16, although it's not too sweet
Big fights with close friends, not really a treat
Need help in the world, from your lovin' mama
So despite all the trouble, she'll help you through your drama

18 now, you have a car and are ready to escape
Life is easy because you have a cape
Starting jobs, left and right
Living paycheck to paycheck every night

Age 21, all laws are done
You're a free man now, all for one
Leavin' mama behind for higher education
Although you'd rather have an extended vacation
