As I lay in the darkness
I stole a glance at you
Breathing in a moonbeam
As you so often do
I smile because I know
While you're off in la la land
I'm probably there with you
Gently holding your hand
Then I get to thinking
Of the little things you do
The dance when you get scared
You know it makes me laugh don't you
Everything's a dooberry
Yes all is called the same
But how to tell the difference?
Oh who cares, what's in a name
You'd never win World's Tidiest
With the mess you leave behind
I just follow the detritus
And you're easy to find
You bring blitzes to the kitchen
With your baking and your cooking
Cleaning's not your strong point
I'm better off not looking
But you found me at my lowest
Turned nothing into me
You taught me how to love again
Unconditionally
Turns out all these little things
Are the biggest in the end
So lay there, safe in la la land
Mother. Lover. My best friend
I've got to go to work
I'll be back in a little while
Softly whispering 'I Love You'
Subconsciously you'll smile
All we have are but the little things
Through it all you've held my hand
No matter what gets thrown at us
The living's good in la la land
