A Teenager's Opinion

"Why do people kill themselves?"
Someone posed this question the other day, so here's my answer:

People kill themselves because they simply are tired of their lives. They're sick of being sad, depressed, angry, and they're just tired of suffering and feeling useless.
"It'll just ruin everyone else's lives."
It probably will. But in that moment of greed, in that moment of selfishness, they're not thinking about everyone else. They're just thinking of an escape route, a way to stop the never-ending river of tears.
Truth is, we spend our whole lives looking for an escape route. If we're sad, we do something that will make us happy and keep us from being sad, i. e., an escape route.
So maybe your escape route's here on Earth. Maybe it's not. Sure, this doesn't justify the fact that you took your own life away, but if you're not happy, I believe you should do whatever the hell you have to do to find that happiness. Suicide won't solve your problems. But it will end them, I suppose. However, it will also end your happiness, whether it was an ounce or millions of ounces. Suicide will end everything.

Amazing good work ;)

Suicide is also a very selfish act often committed by the mentally ill. Money is often a big factor as well speaking as someone who knows of 3 people in the last year who did it !

@sjw @Hazzy16 @lemonz thank you guys. Appreciate it.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘โค๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™

@beergrylles it is selfish. I think we both have different views on what "mentally ill" is. I don't consider depression a mental illness, because I don't think I'm mentally ill when I'm depressed. And what do you mean about money? ๐Ÿ˜

@paintingskies how could you not consider depression as a mental illness when quite clearly it is.

@beergrylles Who is selfish?. The person committing the act or the friends and family of the person who wants to commit the act?.

@blindsilence I just don't see it that way. We've all been depressed at some point in our lives, I'm sure, and it just takes time to get over it.

@paintingskies you are clearly looking at it wrong.

@blindsilence well, we've all got different opinions. I respect yours and I sincerely hope you'll respect mine.

@paintingskies you can have your own opinions but you can not have your own facts.

@blindsilence and that's your opinion, and I respect it.

@paintingskies There is a massive difference between depression and feeling a bit unhappy. Depression really is a mental illness. It is not an opinion, it is a fact. Views such as yours do nothing at all to help improve the understanding of this illness.

@blindsilence I know there's a difference. I know some people call it mental illness. But I don't believe it is. My opinions are not made to satisfy or help the world, they are made to satisfy myself.

@paintingskies you are deluding your self and also sharing your delusions with the rest of the world. Think.

@blindsilence they're not delusions, they're my opinions. And I can share whatever I want to share on here. I'm sorry if you don't like it.

@paintingskies You said you don't believe depression is a mental illness. You have clearly ignored the evidence that proves that it is an illness and have formed your own idea based on personal belief, so clearly it is a delusion.

@paintingskies by the way that blindsilence is a complete arsehole ! Excuse my French but there is no other word for it !

@paintingskies in reference to money what I was saying is that people take their own lives due to problems with it, or I should say lack d

@beergrylles is that exclusively?

@blindsilence I'm not ignoring evidence, I haven't seen any. An opinion is my personal belief, but it is not a delusion.

That seems so sad:( it makes me think how lucky I am that I can cope with life, and there's some people who can't. I'm klucky because when I'm down all I need to cheer me up is some Russell Howard's good news and some skittles! I'm lucky because I don't feel that way......

@beergrylles that's very true. There are so many reasons, money is definitely one if them.

@callz it's extremely sad, but the struggle is real, you know? Just being nice could save someone's life. ๐Ÿ˜˜ And how are you, you haven't been on in quite some time! โค

@callz great, thanks! :) and let's just all be nice to each other.

@paintingskies I know I shan't b mean about her but yeh I just get a bit annoyed by people like that:/ soz

@paintingskies have you ever been diagnosed with depression by a doctor?.

@callz I a

@callz I am not being mean.

@blindsilence no, but I believe oh don't have to be diagnosed with depression to have a mild form of it. Have you ever been diagnosed?

@callz it's alright. :)

@paintingskies Why can and do doctors who do not know you and your belief, all of them in them in the world right now, diagnose depression if it is not a illness?. Think!.

I know you don't have to be diagnosed to have it, it is still an illness nonetheless. If it is not an illness what is it exactly?.

@blindsilence I don't think it's an illness, still. I don't know what else you would call it, but I just can't see it labeled as an illness. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

@paintingskies so basically you don't know... thought so.

You don't know what depression is, you made up a definition of depression but you don't know what that is either. It is just you belief, you don't know why but you have an ill informed opinion anyway.

@blindsilence I'm no expert, but I know what it is. I just don't believe you can define it as an illness, okay? I don't think I'm ill-informed, I just see things differently than you. I don't know everything. But this is my opinion, and you can't judge my opinion as wrong because it's what I think. Respect my opinion, I'm respecting yours. Let's agree to disagree and end this.

@paintingskies you don't know what depression is. You have very clearly demonstrated this. I can provide some web links if you like.

@blindsilence no, but thank you for the offer. I do know what depression is. Like I said, let's agree to disagree. That way we can each keep our opinions, okay?

I can not agree with you. Scientific fact proves that depression is a medical condition. It is a mental illness. I repeat scientific fact proves that depression is an illness. Again, you have invented a definition of depression that only you know but for some reason you have forgotten. Why should I respect or agree with you made up bollocks?.

@blindsilence you're agreeing to disagree with my opinion, not to agree with it. Once again, this is my OPINION. Regardless of what you think of it, it is mine and I will stick with it.

@paintingskies are you purposefully ignoring fact?. Are you am idiot or are you yourself mentally ill?.

Are you purposefully ignoring fact?.

Here some definitionsof the word opinion, from collinsdictionary.com โ€ขjudgment or belief not founded on certainty or proof โ€ขthe prevailing or popular feeling or view โ€ขan evaluation or judgment given by an expert Which of the above defines your understanding of 'opinion'?.

I'm not ignoring fact. @blindsilence Scientists have facts that prove evolution is real, but I still believe in God.

@blindsilence none of those define my idea of an opinion. An opinion is something you hold to be true.

@paintingskies You have ignored facts, see above comments for factual proof. Here is a definition of the word belief: acceptance that something is TRUE especially without PROOF. Please define your definition of depression. You have failed to do this so far. By the way, there is no scientific factual based evidence to support the existence of Zeus.

@blindsilence Can't we just stop arguing? I never said I was right, I said I had an opinion I believed in. I don't need to look at facts. I know what's true and what's false based on personal experiences. I'm going to stop arguing with you. Like I've said before, we have different opinions. I'll believe in mine, and you believe in yours. Goodnight.

@paintingskies You said "I don't need to look at facts. I know what's true and what's false based on personal experiences". True means 'in accordance with fact'. False means 'not according with truth or fact'. An experience can be subjective. In the case of depression, yes, you may be affected by it in many different ways but it does not mean you magically conjure up a understanding of what it is and what it does to you. Because you believe something it does not make it true. It doesn't matter how many times you mention your belief it does not increase its chances of being true and correct. It is clearly evident that you do need to look at facts. Please do and then form an opinion afterwards. Do you understand why I said that your opinion on the subject of depression is ill informed?. Please think, I know you are capable of it.
