I wrote a little poem
To put something to the test
It seems the people of Opuss
Prefer to be depressed.
I've written many poems
But the ones full of woe
Are the ones that are most liked
And the ones they like to show.
It seems with the exception
Of a certain man named Wayne
That the top feed poems
Are filled with tears and pain.
There IS beauty in sadness
And my poems are all true
But Opussia, let's show the world
We can be happy too!

Life's a mystery.
Imagining a world. Where love and lust don't exist. No more heartbroken souls. Taking blades to their wrists. No more adulterous husbands. Or moonlighting wives. No more crimes of a passion.
I sit for hours thinking, In an effort to find the words. I scour my soul for experience And bare it all for you.
If you could frame an emotion for me Which one would you choose. The bright summer highs Or the deep winter blues.
A little message for @Jatt. Seems you're a dog, not a cat. You decided to play. And cheated your way. We expected better than that. What a shame you cannot stay. With all this on your head today.
Recently I heard of a cat, More like a mouse, A cat named Jatt, Jatt the cat. Rather a rat. Opussians cried at literature wrongly placed, And wrongly accused. In the wrong spot, Mismatched, Misplaced.
A bunch of unfinished stuff. Love & hope: Love is temporary. Hope is eternal. Little fair girl: Little fair girl, with your bucket so pink. Why do you want to pour your heart into the sink.
This ink as dark as night, This paper as light as day. Although these words are dark, Their colour means no decay. The paper on the other hand... Spreads the lies as quick as fire.
Is it love that we crave. longing for the warmth depth and tenderness of it's sweet caress. Or is it lust that drives us. getting lost in the hotness of it's passion as we fall from morals grace.
You got it! I completely agree. In the words of Willy Wonka - a little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men :) thank you for the mention in the poem
π alas my happy poetry is not so good...and difficult to write at the moment. I have one or two cheerful opusses, like 'Walk' and...Erm π that's it really. I guess heartbreak just brings out the poet in me!
I would say my fairy tale poems are happy, but they are probably more sarcastic and a little dark... :P

@Irrational_Kimmi it's the same for me too. My most recent attempt at a 'light' poem fell flat and only four people liked it :(
@Nom Ah yes, all the mournful poetsπ Seems the majority of us are most productive when we're at out lowest ebb! Perhaps we should have a 'Sorrow Free Day' on Opuss?! π
I think it's fair that sadness can be inspirational. It's worthwhile expressing those emotions so that we can hopefully let them go and make rooms for happier thoughts βΊ
As a newbie I have noticed this too....I heard once that writers are tortured souls, maybe some truth in this?...I love to write all kinds of stuff too...I particularly liked my loo poem but no one else did...whatever floats your boat I guess, pardon the pun tee hee...anyway love your stuff keep writing as I do, around my moods xxxxxx
I recon it's human nature. We are all a bit morbid and depressed. Well... I am anyway. Very true tho.
Unfortunately I agree. But I MUCH prefer your happier poems- they brighten up my days! We can keep ourselves depressed anyway- no app needs to help us with that, since I've joined I've noticed that too, a bit like all the depressed people on facebook.
