I've never been a writer
So I shall never understand
You give your feelings to a stranger
Seem to ignore my loving hand
I've never made a poem
I'm incapable of rhyme
But you give yours to others
Time after time after time
I cannot tell a story
Except the one in which I live
If I am but a chapter
Then that's all I have to give
I know you're not a quitter
And the truth is I am scared
I don't want to be left lonely
Second to the words you've aired
I've never been a writer
I'm a talker, so let's talk
For if we cannot give an inch
It may be time for one to walk
I've never been a writer
But I want to start right now
My greatest work, 'I Love You'
Will help us through somehow
Even though I'm not a writer
Our life's upon this sheet
I'm hoping that these baby steps
Will help us be whole, complete
