You passed so bloody early
It's difficult to tell
Where this writing comes from
I'm sure you wrote as well
I was only young
So the memories fade with age
Scarcely any stories
They might take up a page
Grandad played the banjo
So the music comes from him
Were you then the lyricist?
For this isn't just a whim
I know your daughter used to write
Because I've read a few
We all share the gene pool
So it must have come from you
And if that's the case, I bow
Although you didn't leave me much
My spiritual inheritance
Seems to be my poets touch
So it seems it's all your doing
You're responsible for me
Just wish you could have stayed a while
To read your legacy

Awww a great write mate and glad mine inspired. My nans passing was pretty hard due to many factors and I really wanted/want to write about her, I'm sure in time I will again, got lots more rubbish to waffle about first but like you I have no idea where all his writing poetry comes from, pretty cool tho 👍
@smellyfingers cheers fella. You just got me to thinking when I read yours. She's been gone thirty odd years, but I know it all comes from that line of the family. May have to do some digging, see what I can find. 👍👏😉🍻
@leelee101 That's a wonderful, heartfelt and truly moving piece. Reminded me of my mum and you've brought a year to my eye ya bugger!!!! 😢🏆
