With you, the sun doesn't seem to shine
You maintain a distance when most would entwine
With you, the nights are lonely and long
We pretend that it's right when plainly, it's wrong
With you, togetherness seems a chore
Stilted, at best, yet we choose to ignore
With you, flowers bought to colour the room
Seem to decay and just add to the gloom
With you, my soul says its seen kinder days
My head and heart argue over one who strays
With you, I've never known a colder bed
Time to admit we're officially dead.
Without you, it seems the same, more or less
But with one added extra.
Happiness...
