I agree wholeheartedly, I don't see the point in the joke category! I also don't like the rating system, I think it could encourage people to post rubbish just to get more likes.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. I posted something similar a few days ago but thought maybe I was being a bit 'moany'. I would love to see original writing become the essence of what this app is about, but think the developers would need to support the idea.

I agree also...I can find a thousand jokes on the Internet in seconds, original literature however is a lot harder to find

On joining I was very excited about the prospect of sharing original literature. I am subsequently quite disappointed with the amount of meaningless jokes I've found. Glad there are more people of share this view

I like to think that the developers wanted to encourage individuals to write whatever they wanted to be it personal, funny, sad or otherwise. Do you feel that non funny quotes attributed to others ie dickens, should also be avoided as they can also be found elsewhere ?

@alanprideaux I do yeah. Great as the famous quotes are, I can find them if I chose to. I thought this app was for creative writings not copy/paste people. I'm all for freedom of speech tho, so hopefully the developers will come up with something to satisfy most as there seems to be more and more posts made on this subject of copy/paste 1/2 liners that aren't original

I hope that it suits all I guess it up to anyone to follow what they like and not what they don't. But I do agree that 90% of what's on here can be found elsewhere. Perhaps not for me then lol.

I have only just registered and starting using this service and I have found this post in the "Top Today" category. It's quite a few down but on the way I haven't seen one joke. Regardless of what measure are put in place, only the posting of great, original content will keep it from turning into another clone of so many joke sites.

A joke, a poem, a short story. I don't really care as long as long as its original. Saying there are no original jokes anymore is like saying there are no original stories anymore. Comedy can reinvent itself with every new day! Can't stand the cut/paste mob myself but keep the joke section for those of us trying to be original!

I couldn't possibly say that everything I post hasn't been said/written before, but I do try to attribute things elsewhere if it's not mine. My memory lacks heavily, so it might just be unknown, but I try, which is more than I can say for some other jokes/quotes I've seen

Me too! I loved Opuss for its originality and a chance to share my love of writing, not somewhere to read reposts of other people's quotes/jokes and sayings! Makes me wonder where my writing fits in?

@Seamonster yes but it just says loading and nothing loads for me. The main thing I'd like to see is 18+ rating/area only as some content (mine included isn't suitable for youngsters) and I'd like some kind of copyright protection on my material in posting up on opuss so if someone takes my stuff and I don't get credit I know I will get some backing and/ or have proof it's all mine, maybe a time/date stamped on posts? Look forward to new update, keep up the good work ;-)
